In-flight wireless? I can get used to this.
Currently in flight from NY to LA. I can smell the freshly baked cookies from First Class and it pains me that I am apparently not worthy of them. I'm pretty sure Lenin must have done his serious cogitating near a cookie factory. Maybe a bakery.

Working Itinerary Published
A few of you have inquired as to where the heck we're actually going (yeah, I guess that would help, huh?), so I went ahead added a link to our working itinerary spreadsheet on gdocs. Its currently on the bottom of our blog and will automatically update itself as Dan and I continue to hammer out any changes and finalize what the heck we're going to be doing in Europe. I apologize for the total ugliness of this, buuuut my knowledge of HTML is about nil. If anyone wants to try to beautify this eyesore, holler at me!
By the way, I don't mean to brag (but really, I do) but I was told today that there's a slim possibility that we might be able to catch Arsenal at Emirates Stadium for an FA Cup Semifinal!! And for free too. (i know you're jealous, Kia) Holy jeez, that could possibly be the absolute highlight of my life! Like literally, in my exit interview with God after I die, I'll probably tell him exactly that. Well if we can get a chance to go, i'm totally rockin' this tattoo:

(i should have enough real estate to pull this off, right?)
Also, in preparation for my departure, I've thought long and hard and have put together a list of what I will really miss from home while I am away:
-Lakers
-Lost
-my toilet
-Lakers
!!!36 hours until departure!!!
Habs >>> Leafs
(Editorial Note: Sorry guys, your gdoc spreadsheet was making my soul ache (not in the good way), so I exercised my Supremeo Blog Creator privileges and cleaned it up and moved it to the sidebar. Also... someone misspelled "Nuremberg". Nurnberg? Ouch. - Jen)

Welcome To Our Travel Blog!
Hello everyone and welcome to Daniel and Jason's travel blog!
We've created this blog to keep all of our friends, family, and stalkers up to date on our travels as we gallivant across the globe for nearly three months and through at least fourteen countries. We intend to update this as often as we can with pictures, stories, and random thoughts from wherever we may be. So kick off your shoes, grab a cup of hot tea, cuddle up under a warm blanket, and enjoy your time here. And while you're at it, please leave comments! We'd love to hear from all of you!
First off, a huge huge thanks to Jennifer for putting together this blog during her lunch breaks and free time (which she unfortunately seems to have a bit too much of lately). Not only that but she was awesome enough to sit us blog-illiterate folk down and teach us how to work this. Without her we wouldn't have this and you, our readers, would not have the opportunity to read this at home and be jealous of our many, many adventures. Yes, totally her fault.
To begin, here's a little bit about ourselves:
Jason Phan - Jason is a very recent graduate of the University of Pennsylvania (December 08), and after majoring in Bioengineering and Economics, he has decided to sell his soul to work as an analyst at an investment bank in San Francisco (although amidst the horrible economy, the 100+ hour work weeks, and the high probability of a layoff, he is strangely still looking forward to it). Fortunately for our protagonist, his job does not start until July 09, and so before he begins to hate life, hate the world and question his existence (I only kid), he's decided to blow his entire life savings for a trip of a lifetime around the world...and he knows it will be incredible!
Dan Faria - Dan also attended the University of Pennsylvania. He likes pie.
Jason and Daniel met by chance on a beautiful mid-autumn day in the fall of 2004 at the University of Pennsylvania. An awkward engineering freshman, Jason was rushing out of his dorm to be extra early for his first Advanced Engineering Mathematics class when he collapsed under the weight of his many textbooks. His books flew everywhere and his papers scattered. Daniel, ever the sweetheart, was strolling by when he saw this explosion and offered to help Jason gather his stuff. Amidst the scramble, Daniel accidentally grazed Jason's hand. Their eyes locked. Jason blushed. And the rest, as they say, is history ... Just kidding! We were freshman year suitemates at Penn, and have been great friends since then.
Our epic voyage began over the summer through an exchange of e-mails:
"Yoooo. So what are your plans post-December? Working right away? Because I am highly considering dicking around Asia during the spring semester, and am currently in the process of recruiting others to my shady ventures.
DFAR"
"Brooooo,
You have no idea how excited I am to hear that you're going to be free. I actually plan to travel around the world, literally, and would love to screw around in asia for a bit. Not sure how deep your pockets are (I'm planning to burn everything I made this summer), but I was also planning to visit Alison in Germany, and maybe hop around in Europe a bit (never been to that continent). I also definitely want to spend some time in Beijing, and I also plan to visit a friend in Taipei. Any specifics places you're interested? I know you want to hit up Korea, which is awesome, cause I'd love to do that too. Any particular dates or whatever in mind? Who else are you planning to recruit?
